So just when we figured the hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto: V was dying down, Rockstar released their much talked about iFruit app onto the market. Yes fans, hear ye hear ye, it is officially available for download.
But what does the app actually do?
Funny enough you’re not the only one who would like this answer.
Well for one, we figure that if you’re looking to play a mobile version of GTA: V the app will disappoint. No, surely you did not think that the gaming company were going to recreate something that HAS to be played on the larger screen now did you? What kind of injustice would that do to the all-impressive game?
Rather, the application was made as a companion to those playing the game already, or for fans of the franchise. What’s more is that the actual product Rockstar created so-called ‘iFruit’ is a paraody on the iPhone and is the phone used in the actual game.
This is very clever, as it almost feels as though we are even more connected to the fictional surrounds of Vice City and Los Santos.
So far as the application goes it’s pretty decent as something to use on the move that makes you feel as though you’re still playing on console, computer (soon, we hope) or online.
There are two cool features. The first concerns the legendary rottweiler Chop, and the second surrounds Los Santos Customs.
For example, there are several mini games that you can play out with Chop the dog. Quite hilarious in theme, those include chasing mates in the park,
ripping swimsuits off girls at the beach,
and fighting enemies away from Franklin’s car.
You can also make sure Chop is looked after, from buying him in-app merchandise such as collars, to bringing him on walks for more coins, and brownie points. You can even teach him more tricks, and the coolest part of all is that once learned, he can do this in your actual game.
The second best feature about the app is to do with the garage in L.S.
From within the application, you can switch between all three anti-heroes Franklin, Micheal, and Trevor, and customize the cars they drive. The app goes into so much detail, from exuberant colors, to edgy rims and powerful engines. Players can even change up and individualize their registration plates, to make it uber-personal.
What else is in the application mainly consists of official news content, and settings to which users can configure. There are three encyclopedias that have detailed accounts about the likes of GTA: V, GTA: 3, and GTA: VICE CITY. On top of this there is an online store that has official merchandise that players can actually buy from within the application.
